This idea is more of a cliché than anything original, but I still like the potential for it, if done correctly.
It’s Part 1 of 2 with CP 73 being the other half to it.
In this one we have our main POV character. He’s a former British Special Forces guy turned bodyguard. I don’t know if he’d be former SAS though. Even though he’s good I don’t think he’d be that good. He’s a decent shooter but better up close and personal. More of a brawler fighting style. He’ not doing kicks and fancy moves.
Him being British isn’t even a 100% as I could use another country just not America. I think him being European would help set this idea apart more than him being ex-US military.
The story would open with him finding out he’s getting fired. He did something on the last job while not outrageous in his line of work, was offensive to his employer and they blacklisted him and now he’s struggling to find a job despite there being an abundance of them available.
This forces him to look for work in America something he’s never had to do before and another reason to make him non-American. That way this angle works better.
Whatever his former employer did to him though has made his prospects smaller there too and he’s forced to take a job as a bodyguard for a rich guy’s daughter. (CP 73)
He has bills due/owes a debt to someone, so he has to take this job even though it’s well below his skill level.
What happened to him on his last job would be revealed over the course of this story and would show him in a clean light. He didn’t do anything ‘wrong’ per say and it was all his employers fault/overreacting. The bodyguard isn’t a bad guy in this case.
