CREATIVITY POST 154

This idea, should it become a story, will have a much more somber feel to it than most of my usual stuff. And while it could work for characters just getting out of high school, I’m going to use the idea for characters just getting out of college, as I don’t have too many young characters in my stories (unless it flashbacks to characters childhood).

The idea here though is two best friends who’ve reached the end of their friendship. They grew up together, went to high school together, and even the same college and sorority.

They both graduated college and now summer is on the horizon. Figure, it’s still late May (maybe) and they haven’t really seen each other much the last month because of graduation stuff etc.

And at some point, they both come to the conclusion that this is it. They don’t really see eye to eye anymore. They’re both going off in different directions. Maybe one is going to spend the summer in Boston and the other in LA/San Francisco. Opposite coasts type thing.

They never had a big fight or anything. There wasn’t boyfriend drama. Nothing. They just slowly drifted apart. No one is right or wrong or even mad, hence the somber feel.

Its just life happens, and people move on or outgrow one another.

This idea works fine for just a stand-alone piece but to tie it into The Merc Series Universe better, I think I would either have the girl’s parents/families be important figures/VIPS somehow or maybe the new jobs they’re taking are from other major companies already established in The Merc Series Universe.

And the girls give an inside look to what working for them is like. That could work. But that would be an after-thought or something separate as the core story would be the drifting apart of two former best friends.
