This is Part 4 of a 4 Part brainstorming process that will cover an entire novel idea that’s set during December.
This Creativity Post is the big reveal that all the others have been leading up to.
The snowstorm (168) has trapped all of the women (166) and secrets have been revealed, mostly involving their relationship with Tanner (working name).
He was killed in a car crash on New Year’s Eve the previous year. His death left all the women wealthy.
But now it’s looking like his death wasn’t an accident after all.
This will (hopefully) come off as a shock reveal but it’s only the first shoe to drop because as the women are dealing with this revelation, another one emerges that suggests they were all tricked to being there at the ski lodge which they find weird because it was snowboard chick’s idea.
But she would find out that she had been subtle manipulated herself to picking that spot in the first place.
A blonde woman will appear to them, and she’ll be a ‘local’ who has been seen in a separate scene with each of them doing Christmas shopping or admiring light displays, etc. Nothing suspicious and will seem like just another minor background character to enhance the setting.
Instead, she’ll be revealed as plotting revenge against all the women for over a year because she lost her family in a car accident because of Tanner.
But not the one that killed Tanner.
That’s the fake reveal.
What happened to her family was months before that, during a rainy night.
Her husband was supposed to see Tanner for a check on a device he had installed on him. This will be related to whatever business/tech company that Tanner ran. I’m leaning toward some kind of optic/vision device (kind of futuristic) but could be heart related too.
But instead of seeing him, Tanner cancelled on him because he wanted to meet his girlfriend (snowboard chick) early.
Because of this cancellation, the device he had on him glitched out a day or two later during a stormy night and made him crash the van which killed him, their daughter, and the dog.
Tanner’s assistant is the one who called to cancel on the guy and ignored his concerns. Tanner’s business partner lied about knowing potential defects they’d been encountering and Tanner’s lawyer helped him cover up any wrongdoing on his part.
The blonde woman killed Tanner first with the car accident and has been plotting her revenge against the four women ever since. And she will stop at nothing to have it.
So that’s the gist of the whole novel start to finish. Obviously, this is all surface level concept stuff here, as that’s the point of Creativity Posts but I think there’s enough material here to make a decent first draft.
I’m just not sure how the ending of the novel will actually play out yet.
MERRY CHRISTMAS
