CREATIVITY POST 167

This is Part 2 of a 4 Part brainstorming process that will cover an entire novel idea that’s set during December.

The second part focuses on all the fun the ladies are having on the ski trip. There’s more than just skiing and snowboarding of course.

There’s the quintessential small town at Christmas time nearby and they all take a trip to that and have the usual Christmas type fun. The vibe I’m going for is happy, cheerful, and fun.

For the most part.

There will be little things here and there that will seem out of place with the rest of the tone of the novel and that will be intentional.

Not enough to feel like a bait n switch but gradual enough that when the shift for the novel happens it will feel completely natural.

There will be a sort of Hallmark movie charm when they’re in town but none of the usual tropes will be in play. No hot single dads trying to save their farm, bakery, or other business. Or trying to keep the magic of Christmas alive for their kid(s). The women aren’t looking for love, nor do I think they would find it there either.

Basically, my idea is to take some of those familiar Christmas story ideas but then go in a separate direction but one that still makes sense for this story.
