Creativity Post 72

I came across these pics recently in my saved photos album where I collect all the images/pics I find. I’ve been doing this for a few years before I started writing Creativity Posts. Sometimes I would add a single line or two about why I saved the pic but not usually.

These ones I saved two years ago and I have no idea what my original idea or reason was but that’s okay because after seeing them again, I got a new idea.

This won’t be a separate story or anything, more like a flashback or backstory type of scene.
In Red Diamond it was hinted at the past relationship between Nick Walker and Stephanie Weathersby and that’s been touched upon in several other areas in The Merc Series, including a previous Creativity Post. And it’s something that I’ll continue to expand upon.

For these pics in particular, they made me think of them when they were teenagers. They meet in high school and soon became best friends (much to Megan’s initial annoyance) and would often go off on adventures together when not training or studying.

I feel like this is them grabbing their gear in late Spring (April/May) on a Friday afternoon and just hitting the road for the weekend, just the two of them. Also feels like this isn’t the first time they do this.

Sometimes they already know or have planned out where they’re going but they’re also just as likely to take off with no destination or plan in mind.

I kinda like this angle/idea to them as teenagers and showing how close they got/became. They didn’t need a plan or a reason to have fun together. They just did it.

They were connected to each other in a way no one else had been to either of them before. Yes, Nick had Megan, but this was a different kind of chemistry between Nick and Stephanie.

This will be fun to explore in future books.
