For this one I’m thinking of a two different versions approach.

Like you’ll see the POV of this guy and his allies but then you’ll also see the POV of this guy’s enemies/foes/rivals.

The question/theme of the story though would be whose version is right?

Are his foes really the bad guys because he says so or is he really the bad guy now?

I’m thinking Texas, cause of the hat, (IDK) and that the guy’s been in Law Enforcement for most of his life.
Maybe he’s the sheriff of a small town by the border of Mexico. It’s kinda out of the way though, not the type of place that gets all the attention like other towns/cities do on the daily news about problems etc.

But maybe that’s the issue right there. Maybe because of where his town is that’s why it’s been targeted. Maybe he’s been trying to get help but his concerns/warnings have fallen on deaf ears.

Maybe that’s what prompted him to arm all his officers with more firepower. Better firepower.
Maybe he made a deal with an arms dealer and/or bought stuff on the black market.

But now to flip it around, we could easily spin the story that he’s an old timer who’s living in the past and is now abusing his powers/authority and turning his town into a police state of sorts with armed officers everywhere.

Or he could just be a guy (maybe a successful rancher) who’s doing what he can to keep his town/home from turning into a war zone and keep his friends/family/people safe cause the government won’t.
