Tonight’s post is a little different in the sense that I like this picture and think it’s cool but I’m not sure how I might actually be able to use it. Yet.
My working idea is to include it into my short story ‘Beach Day’ one of the stories featured in Humid Days, Hot Nights, (A Merc Series Collection)
The basic premise of that story is the girls taking a day off to spend it at the beach relaxing during the heatwave running through Boston. The story is solid but still needs a little more something something to make it pop/carry water.
I stumbled across this photo a while ago and thought oh that’d be something cool they could do while at the beach. But that’s as far as I got. No idea who’s the painter in the group or what supplies/items would need to be brought along etc. And I’m still not sure how to include it into what I’ve already written without it breaking the current flow of the story.
There’s a good chance that it might not get put into that story. Maybe it could be used for a different one or maybe not at all. I’m not going to force something in just because I like it or think it’s neat. It has to make sense for that story at that time.
It could also be that I’ve just not thought up the right story to use it yet too. I’ve got a ton of pictures, articles, links, etc all saved for ideas that I think I could use in the future. Some of them I knew right away how I would/could go about using them. Others were ones like tonight’s pic that I thought were neat and could be used but wasn’t sure how yet.
Which is a long way of saying somethings don’t always work and it’s okay to put them aside or move along onto something else. That happened to me earlier this year as I was thinking up a new story but couldn’t get the pieces to fall into place so I’ve since ‘shelved’ that project and have moved onto other projects that I want to get done. And I’m okay with that. ?
