For tonight’s post, we’ve got new a power couple. We’ll keep the obvious in that they’re celebrating their engagement. She’s all about that bling bling. So just who is this couple and how will they fit into The Merc Series Universe?
Let’s start with the guy first since I think he’ll be the one to tie things together. I’m thinking he’s a tech guy or computer guy. It’s his hair. I don’t know why but that’s the vibe I’m picking up. He started his own company and built it up with a few good friends from college and then their ‘widget/app/product’(fill in the blank) went big and he made millions. It’s not a common/every household thing but those in the tech field know who he is and what he does but still niche, if you will. Now that he has money, he started going out and spending it. Parties with friends and meeting new people.
Which brings us to her. She’s from a rich family already and is known as a party girl. Not drunk and in the tabloids but she’s the wild one in her group of friends. The one who takes the dares and voted lease likely to settle down. Which is why everyone is surprised when they started dating.
I’m thinking they didn’t date for long before he popped the question. She’s probably the first real girlfriend he’s had longer than a month, since he spent so much time building his company/widget. There’s no secret agenda here. She doesn’t need to marry him for his money since she already has her own. Her trust fund is nothing to sneeze at either and his company is doing fine so he doesn’t need to steal from her. They’re just a happy young wealthy couple.
So now how can we use them/make them important? Most likely it’s going to be something with his company. Depending on what he does, it could be a requiring business that gets cameos and talked about here or there. Or it could be a one-off job where they’re introduced. This way, even minor characters can stand out. I’m thinking they could be from California, if so they may not have anything to do with Red Diamond and could be in stories featuring other mercenaries or assassins but then have whatever happens in those stories mentioned by, probably Megan. She would be the most likely interested in his company and what he does.
Lots of options and directions we could go from here.
