Tonight’s post on creativity is a good example of how the same photo could lead to multiple different stories depending on who you put in that story.
So first we have the outfit which caught my eye, specifically the boots and then the background. Desert type area. I’m thinking Mexico, but we could also go with Nevada, cause the guys of Red Diamond visit Vegas a lot. Or we could use Texas.
Also in the background are a couple buildings which could factor in depending on where we go with the story. What kind of buildings are they? Who lives there or works there? Are they the target? Do they even have any importance?
Next would be deciding how to use this and who to use. Nick trains a lot of female operatives and is on very good terms with many of them. ? We have Gina from the FBI, Alex from US Marshalls, Natalie from the ATF, and Maria from the Secret Service, to name a few. If we use Texas, it would make sense to use CJ, a Texas Ranger and now US Marshall. Or we could make up a new character all together, say from the DEA.
The initial idea is that whomever we use is working undercover as a model, hence the outfit, and Nick is asked to come along as either a bodyguard or photographer. The bodyguard angle works cause Nick Summers is known to protect models, which would help their cover.
I like the idea of it being Mexico, as it opens up a chance to spotlight some other criminal organizations. Most likely a cartel, but not necessarily.
This also helps to show how The Merc Series is character focused as opposed to plot focused. I can use this idea but a story starring say, Alex and Nick in Mexico would have a different feel/style then a story starring Gina and Nick.
Ultimately until I decide who I want to use, the rest of questions won’t be answered. But I’m liking my options so far. ?
