So one of the things hinted at in Red Diamond, was the past that Nick Walker has with Stephanie Weathersby. One of the ideas I’ve had kicking around in my head for years, and even started to write it out in one version of the novels, in flashback scenes ala Arrow, (though that was years before the show) is a plane crash that Nick and Stephanie are involved in, details still sketchy but it’s basically the two of them lost in a heavy wooded area and they’re being hunted down by a team of mercenaries known as the Pathfinders.
I have it listed on the timeline for the series of when it happened and I knew the Pathfinders would be expert trackers but that was about it. I wasn’t even sure how many of them there would be. Then during the last few months I came across these photos which made me think back to this idea.
So as of now, (cause I do like to change my mind a lot) my working idea is that the Pathfinders are a group of 6 or 8 men, who are all former Rangers, with maybe a Special Forces guy thrown in. I’m still thinking they would all be Americans but maybe a French or British guy mixed in could be interesting.
They still focus on tracking but maybe they do more than just that, if I’m going by these pics. Plus I like the idea of the river boat and think that could be interesting to incorporate somehow.
Now the questions are, why are the Pathfinders after them? Who hired them? Are they good or bad? Do they only care about the money?
